Qualifications Criteria

• Should be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
• Educational Qualifications:
  • Passed the G.C.E. (O/L) examination with 6 subjects in one sitting, including credit passes for English Language and Mathematics. OR
  • Passed the G.C.E. (A/L) examination with 2 subjects (excluding General English and General Knowledge) in one sitting. AND
  • Possess a secretarial certificate or a diploma in secretarial practice of not less than six (06) months duration, from an institution recognized by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) (English medium is mandatory).
• Experience:
  • Experience as a Personal Assistant / Private Secretary / Secretarial Assistant / Secretary in a reputed government or private sector organization will be an added advantage.
• Other Required Competencies & Skills:
  • A high standard of computer literacy with a typing speed of at least 30 words per minute in English (the ability to type in Sinhala/Tamil will be considered an added qualification).
  • Excellent proficiency in English and Sinhala/Tamil languages.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office packages.
• Age:
  • Should be 28 years of age or below as at the closing date of applications.

Allowances and Benefits

• A fixed monthly allowance of Rs. 45,000/- during the first year of training and Rs. 51,000/- during the second year will be paid during the two-year training period.
• This position is subject to the general rules and regulations of the bank service (Contractual Basis).
• Trainees who successfully complete the training period and perform exceptionally well will be considered for permanent appointment to the post of Secretarial Assistant – Grade II after a minimum period of two (02) years.
• No overtime allowance or weekend allowance will be paid after normal working hours.
• Must be prepared to serve in any branch/office island-wide according to the requirements of the bank.

Selection Procedure

Candidates will be selected based on a written test followed by an interview.

1. Paper I – English Writing Skills Test (Duration: 30 minutes)
2. Paper II – English Dictation and Typing Test (Only candidates who achieve the required pass mark in Paper I will be called for Paper II).

Candidates will be called for interviews based on the highest marks obtained in the written examination. Selection will be strictly based on merit.
