Sri Lankan teachers now have an excellent opportunity to enhance their professional skills through the Japanese Government MEXT Scholarship 2026 for Teacher Training Students. This fully funded scholarship program is offered by the Government of Japan to support teacher development and strengthen educational cooperation between Japan and Sri Lanka.
The MEXT Teacher Training Program is scheduled to begin in October 2026 and will conclude in March 2028. Selected candidates will receive specialized training in Japan, gaining international exposure and advanced teaching methodologies that can be applied within Sri Lanka’s education system.
According to the official notification, application guidelines and relevant forms have already been issued to the responsible authorities. Educational institutions are requested to widely share this information and encourage eligible teachers to apply for the scholarship.
All nominations must be submitted on or before 28 January 2026. Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend an interview conducted jointly by Sri Lankan officials and representatives from the Embassy of Japan in Colombo.
This scholarship initiative aims to promote professional development among Sri Lankan educators while fostering long-term educational and cultural collaboration between the two countries. Interested and eligible teachers are strongly encouraged to apply within the given deadline.
